International Maritime Museum Hamburg
The "International Maritime Museum" in Hamburg (IMMH) has one of the largest collections of
Bone Ship Models in the world. The models were mostly made around the turn of the 18th to the
19th century by Prisoners of War confined in British prisons. The models are arranged in the
treasure room of Deck 8. In a corner of this department (a), a replica of a part of a prison hulk with
two incarcerated men building a bone model ship, gives the impression of the harsh living
conditions of POW's during Napoleonic War times.
